A new Head for Hall School Wimbledon

Hall School Wimbledon is delighted to announce that The Reverend Bruce Rickards has been appointed the new Head, effective from 1st September 2019.

Mr Rickards’ appointment follows a thorough recruitment process which saw a large number of experienced candidates express interest in the role of Head.

Mr Rickards is currently Deputy Head Pastoral, Chaplain and Designated Safeguarding Lead at HSW. He is committed to the values, ethos and unique feel of the school and has demonstrated enormous integrity in his work in the short time Chatsworth Schools has owned HSW.

Mr Rickards has a wealth of experience he will bring to bear in this new role, including work locally in Wimbledon as the Assistant Chaplain at Kings College Wimbledon, as a Vicar in Wimbledon Village and, more widely, as a board member of the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education and Area Dean of Merton. Prior to joining the church, Mr Rickards had a twenty-eight year career in finance with a specific focus on change management – experience that will be invaluable with the forthcoming amalgamation of Beavers Holt and The Downs.

Mr Rickards has a long-standing involvement with HSW as both his children attended Beavers Holt and The Downs. He is a local man, born in Wimbledon, and is married to Izzy, a primary school Headteacher at a Wimbledon school.

Mr Graeme Delaney, the current Head, will continue working with the school and oversee the transition; he will take on the position of Principal from 1st September to help see through the plans for the merging of the Junior School on to The Downs site from September 2020.
